Who is the Human Being? (Genesis 2:7)
-God is the Creator of all universe. If we know and believe in God through the Gospel, we can have true success, happiness, peace, and rest in this world. -Now, we should know who is the human being?
1.What is the human being?
1)The humankind who has a physical body.
①Because human beings are created from the ground (soil), they have the physical body.
Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
②Like soil, human beings are weak and fragile.
2 Corinthians 4:7 (NIV) But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
③Most people live for only their body and spend all things for their physical body and needs.
Genesis 6:2-3 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
2)The man who has a spirit
①Making the human being from soil, God breathed the breath to his nostrils
②The purpose of human beings as spiritual beings is to praise God and to give glory to Him.
Isaiah 43:7 Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.”
Isaiah 43:21 This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.
③Most people do not have any concern for their spirit and spend their time and money for nurturing their spirits.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
3)The human being who has the afterlife
①All people must die once
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
②Physical death means the division between a body and a spirit.
Matthew 27:50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
③After you die, you will go to a designated place
Ecclesiastes12:7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.
④Someone will go to hell after the judgment
Matthew 25:41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
Revelation 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire
⑤Others will go to heaven without the judgment
John 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
Revelation 21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
2.The state of human beings who are happy
1)All people will be happy when they are with God
-The principle of creation shows that the humankind must be with God (Gen.1:26-28).
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
2)All people will be happy when they listen to God’s Word
Genesis 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Deuteronomy 10:12-13 And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?
①Happy individuals can make happy families (Gen.2:18-25)
Genesis 2:23-24 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
②A happy family can make happy children (Gen.4:4)
Genesis 4:4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering,
③A happy person can make a happy society and nation
Genesis 12:1-3 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
④However, Satan snatches and takes happiness (Gen.3:12, 4:16; 6:5)
John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
3)All people will be happiest when they go to and live in heaven with God (Rev.21:4)
4)All people need God’s help and protection in this world.
1 Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Conclusion
1)Set your mind and heart on Jesus Christ!
Colossians 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
-Have the time to concentrate upon who Jesus Christ is and what Jesus Christ has done for us through the Way of Salvation every single day.
