Lesson 1 - Wounded People Seeking the Truth

Many people are wandering, searching for the truth. Everyone desires to have a truthful conversation, but unable to find a breakthrough in the conversation, many are left thirsting. Also, many are wandering, unable to discover their true selves. This thirst for the truth cannot be quenched with knowledge, wealth,  fame, or materialism.

1. There are many people who are seeking the truth in this world. They think this way because they cannot accept the truth.

1) Many think, "I really have no hpoe. There is no reason to live", and decide to commit suicide. Although they possess knowledge, money, and fame, they endlessly search for the truth, and ultimately attempt suicide.

2) Many wander aimlessly in search for a truthful life, but there is no one to help them.

3) There are many broken families near us that have problems with marriage, children, and finances.

4) Although they many not actually do it, many contemplate running away from home.

5) The youth are suffering from problems in their studies, family, sexuality, and eventually, fall into wrong cilture. No one is able to help them.

6) Many religious people attempt to live diligently, yet they still wander.

7) Those who are addicted to drugs or gambling are still seeking the truth to this day. If these scars are not healed, they will be bound to endless spiritual problems.

2. However, the Bible speaks about people who found the truth.

1) Peter (John 21:15-18) - "Do you love me?" Jesus asked the most honest question to Peter, who had confessed that Jesus is the Christ yet failed. "Yes Lord, You know that I love you." This was the second truthful answer given by Peter, who was just an ordinary fisherman before becoming Jesus' disciple. When you stand before the "truth", you face a turning point your life.

2) Paul (Acts 9:1-15) - Paul received family education, Pharisee education, and even studied on Jerusalem. Yet still, he did not realize. However, his thoughts changed when he gained the answer regarding truth, which had been his lifelong conflict.

3) Theophilus (Acts 1:1) - Doctor Luke appealed to the truthful part of Theohpilus through the two letters of the Book of Luke and the Book of Acts. After receiving the answer regargind the truth, the Roman officier, Theophilus, decided to help the evangelists for Jesus Christ who had been framed as heretics. Luke and Theophilus were united in the truth.

4) Gaius (3John 1:2) - Gaius, who became the host for all evangelists, uncovered the truthful answer regarding his life ans discovered the direction for his life.

5) Onesimus (Philemon 1:1-25) - Onesimus, once a slave and thief, found his most sincere and true self when he met Paul the evangelist in prison, and heard the Gospel. He was able to set a real life goal of "Ah, this is how I must live my life!"

6) Those who became great individuals among the evangelists - They eventually lived a victorious life after gaining the true answer. One of them, while trying to commit suicide, read the verse "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt 11:28) and because of that verse, he was able to receive the true answer to his thirst, and be used as a great evangelist.

3. This time will be the greatest time of your life

1) God called the 80 year old Moses who had given up on everything and was tending sheep in the Midian wilderness and gave him a mission. (Exodus 3:1-20)

2) God gave a precious mission to find the 7,000 hidden disciple to the prophet Elijah, who confessed that he could not do anything despite having experiencing God's power (1King 19:1-21)

3) Peter, who confessed, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God", received great blessing. (Matthew 16:16) Many you possess this blessing as well.

4) Paul realized his God-given mission and received the answer for his life to preach the Gospel in the superpower nation of Rome. (Acts 19:21) This blessing has been prepared for you since before the creation of the world.
