Lesson 5 - Who is Jesus Christ?
Who is Jesus Christ, the most influential figure in the world? Who is the one who defeated the forces of darkness? Who is Christ, the main figure of history?
1. Christ did three things.
1) We can never meet God with our own strength, so Christ opened up the way to meet God.
John 14:6 - "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
2) He completely solved all sin and curses, and the problems of the past, present, and future.
Mark 10:45 - "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
3) He broke the authority of Satan, the enemy of this world.
1Jhon 3:8 - "Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil."
2. Jesus came to this earth as the Christ
1) He came as the true priest to solve all problems of sin and curses.
2) He came as the true prophet who opened the way to meet God.
3) He came as the true king who broke Satan's authority.
3. There is unique evidence that Jesus is the Christ. Jesus died on the cross, and resurrected in three days.
1) Christ died for our sins according to Scripture and resurrected three days after He was buried according to Scripture. (1Corinthians 15:3-5)
2) Jesus has all authority in heaven and on earth because He is the Son of God. (Matthew 28:16-20)
3) The resurrected Jesus is sitting on the right hand of God and dwells with and works upon His saved children. (Mark 16:15-20)
4. If you believe this, the saving works of God will take place.
1) Solution to past problems - He saved us, who were dead in our trespasses and sins. (Ephesians 2:1)
2) Solution to present problems - He saved us, were by nature objects of wrath, and made us cross over to life. (Ephesians 2:3-5)
3) Solution to future problems - Although we have no right, God said that in Christ Jesus, He will seat us in heaven. (Ephesians 2:6)
4) Evidence appears - God wants to show the immeasurable riches of His grace in Christ Jesus in the coming ages. (Ephesians 2:7)
