Lesson 8 - The Past and Scars that Must be Removed

 

Scars of the past are obstacles to our spiritual growth and channels for the forces of darkness. We must know the roots of past scars and heal them. Healing is possible only by the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

 

 

1. Uncover the roots of past scars and understand the cause.

1) Genesis 3:1-20 - the cause of all problems (fundamental root)

2) Genesis 6:1-20 - problems come to the familiy despite living diligently

3) Genesis 11:1-8 - the society and nation which are crumbling despite appearing as if they are advancing.

 

2. If you do not heal the scars within you, they become channels for Satan.

1) Problems of the family and family line

2) Special diseases

3) Idolatry and the resulting mental problems

4) Conflict in human relationships

5) Special environment

 

3. There is a spiritual background that continues to deceive you. How does Satan deceive believers?

1) Satan deceives by lying.

John 8:44 - "You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the begining, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

2) Satan deceives as if something good will happening.

2Corinthians 11:14 - "And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."

3) Although unseen to the eyes, Satan moves the rulers and powers, and acts like the king of the world.

Ephesians 6:12-20 - "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, aginst the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." (v.12)

4) Satan deceives through idolatry.

Exodus 20:3-5 - "You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,"

1Corinthinans 10:20 - "No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons"

 

4. Your thoughts must change first.

1) Galatians 2:20 - "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

2) Philippians 4:6-7 - "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplicaiton with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace fo God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

 

5. Restrore thanksgiving

God has called you out of sin, curses, and disasters as a child of light and as a priest

1Peter 2:9 - "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
