After David defeated Goliath, when he was admired by all the people, Saul's jealousy and anger led to attempted murder. But David, who knew the power of worship and prayer, overcame the crisis of death and held fast to the covenant of the one who remained. Afterward, what prayer did he begin?
1. The Pilgrim's Prayer That Only Looks to God
Without any effort; with an attitude of being thankful for everything; and connecting everything that he saw and heard with prayer, David did the “prayer of 24 hours” in a state of being happy with prayer alone. He solely looked toward God’s power and even connected his breathing with the heavenly throne. Like this, the pilgrim's prayer revives God’s image and the living Spirit in you, and makes you indifferent to crises and problems.
2. Problems and Incidents Lead to Prayer and Worship
The person who praised Jehovah God the most was by far David. Regardless of time and the environment, he solely praised Jehovah. When he became king, he confessed that “the Lord was his King.” Even when Saul constantly mobilized his spear of death and army to kill him, David regarded those incidents as times to worship God. Rather, even though he had the power to kill Saul, David broke down the darkness that surrounded Saul and gave glory to God.
The pilgrim's prayer moves the throne and relays the light of the Gospel to the whole world. No matter how weak and troubled you are, it's okay. Don't try to avoid them; instead, just go into prayer and worship.
Dear God, instead of making darkness happy, help me to walk on the pilgrim’s path that returns all glory to You. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
* How Can You Examine Your Prayer?
There are prayers that please God. They are the prayer of the one who remained, the prayer of the pilgrim, the prayer that breaks down the forces of darkness, and the prayer that glorifies God.
Please examine your prayers topics and worship services that you’ve given until now. And like David, start a new prayer that gives the highest glory and praise to God.
