A Hotel Specialist Missionary
Joshua 2:1~24 Then the two men returned. They came down from the hills and passed over and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and they told him all that had happened to them. And they said to Joshua, “Truly the Lord has given all the land into our hands. And also, all the inhabitants of the land melt away because of us.” (23~24)

A hotel is a place where people from all walks of life from around the world come and go. It also plays an important role in introducing the history and culture of a region or nation. In this regard, the Mormon church utilizes the hotel industry as the core of its missions’ strategy. The hotel industry is also connected to a strategy of exposing and relaying cultures as well as being responsible for its guests’ health and well-being. Then, as hotel specialists, what must you always keep in mind?
1. A Third Residence
Although hotels may seem like a temporary place to stay, they can be considered third residences. There have been many instances where God’s works began in these types of places. In order to save her baby, Jochebed put him in a basket and placed it in the Nile River where it later ended up in the King’s palace(Exodus 2:1~10). The baby grew up in a third house, the palace, where he later managed and carried out his great mission(Exodus 3:1~20). When Joshua sent two important spies into Jericho, they lodged at the home of a woman named Rahab. After Rahab and the spies shared important covenantal forum, she relayed important information to them. This is where God’s greatest works began to take place(Joshua 2:1~12). The Israelites gained assurance and had complete victory.
2. A Third Mission Center
Hotels are third mission centers because multiethnic people from many nations and different social classes come to stay. Hotels are an important field where you can see, experience, and understand many different cultures.
3. A Third Place of Worship
A hotel where a child of God works is a third place of worship. Especially, working in a hotel can cause you to miss worship and training. However, if you are able to use the workplace as a third place of worship and receive spiritual strength, it can become a great door for you to lead many guests from various backgrounds to church. At this time, you can also hold cultural festivals. If you look at the Early Church, they gathered in every field and found answers within those fields. Likewise, hotels are places of unlimited field evangelism.
[Prayer of the Evangelist] Dear God, help me to receive spiritual strength through field worship. Help me to take on the role of a missionary who saves the field.
