Those Who Make, Enjoy, and Relay the Resolution in Their Hearts

Daniel 1:8~9 But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king's food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself. And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs

Tremendous works arise when God’s Word is established in you. If you are able to comprehend the Word, answers inevitably come and the Word is fulfilled. Yet, the Israelites lost hold of God’s Word, and faced pitiful circumstances. They became enslaved, held as captives, and were colonized by powerful nations. Daniel and his three friends were among them; however, they held onto God’s Word in the midst of being captives to Babylon. What did they do as they held onto the Word?

1. Those Who Made Resolutions Before God – the Heavenly Mandate
Daniel and his three friends resolved to hold onto God’s heavenly mandate. The nation of Israel was invaded and its people were held as captives after they had lost hold of the Gospel and the covenant. The most important fact when in a state of captivity is to accurately hold onto the Word and make a resolution before God. That is why Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego made their resolutions and staked their lives, so that the Israelites and the entire world would longer fall into destruction. Like so, if you resolve before God and grab hold of His Word, tremendous works will be revealed in your life.

2. Those Who Enjoyed God’s Will - Calling
Not only did these individuals make their resolutions before God, they further enjoyed them because they discovered their calling. They resolved not to drink the wine or eat the food that was offered to the idols of Babylon. God granted special wisdom to those four young men(Daniel 1:8~20). Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego even made their confessions of faith before they were thrown into the fiery furnace(Daniel 3:17~18). Daniel knew the king’s edict had been signed. Yet, as he had done previously, he got down on his knees, prayed, and gave thanksgiving before his God three times a day(Daniel 6:10). In those separate times, God sent His angels to protect them.

3. Those Who Relayed God’s Will - Mission
Those four young men relayed God’s will because it was their mission. When nobody was able to interpret King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, Daniel interpreted it and relayed God’s will before the king himself and his subjects. From that moment on, the king fell upon his face and paid homage to Daniel. He commanded that an offering and incense be offered up to him. Furthermore, the king lifted high the name of Jehovah God and praised Him(Daniel 2:46~47).

[Prayer of the Evangelist] Dear God, help me to comprehend Your Word. As I hold onto it, help me to carry out my heavenly mandate, calling, and mission.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
