Lesson 10 - How Should We Pray?

In order to pray, the Gospel must be applied in your life. After the Gosple is applied, organize the basic messages. After the Gospel organized, understood, and applied, it is good to quietly meditate on God's Word. At this time, answers to prayer as well as the answer of peace will come.

1. In order to pray, it is of utmost importance to apply the Gospel in your life first.

1) To do so, correctly understand the Gospel.

Matthew 16:16 - "Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Christ the Son of the living God'"

2) Afterwards, the Gospel must be applied.

   (1) After He heard Peter's correct confession of faith, Jesus took the disciples to the Mt. of Transfiguration. (Matthew 17:1-18)

   (2) Jesus solved Peter's life problem of always suffering from poverty. (Taxes) (Matthew 17:24-27)

※ For new church members who do not know how to pray, it is beneficial to continually listen to the messages (cd, dvd, mp3) that the church leaders recommend.

2. After the Gospel is applied, organize the basic messages.

1) 6 states of the unbeliever (Genesis 3:1-20)

2) 7 blessings of God's child (Matthew 16:16)

3) The time schedule of world conquest. (From Mark's upper room to Rome conquest)

4) Mystery of prayer. (What happens when you pray?)

3. Meditation and healing

Prayer is thinking about God and deeply meditating during your quiet time. After realizing the Gospel and understanding it, it is good to quietly meditate on God's Word. At this time, answer to prayer and peace will come.

1) You must deeply meditate on God's Word.

2) You must meditate on the pulpit message.

3) At that time, your thoughts are healed.

You will be able to match your direction to God's will and desire, and live the happy life that God desires. After realizing the Gospel, some believers had their thoughts healed to the extent that they shared the Gospel to their family members and friedns through phone calls or letters.

4. What is scheduled prayer?

Scheduled prayer is meditating on God's Word, organizing prayer topics, and praying. If you can do scheduled prayer, it means that you are stable. Healing will take place through deep prayer and your thoughts, and the doors to answers will open. Then depending on the answers that come, you can pray accordingly. Scheduled prayer is the key to the filling of the Holy Spirit.

1) Daniel's scheduled prayer - "He got down on his knees three times a day" (Daniel 6:10)

2) Peter and John's scheduled prayer - "at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour" (Acts 3:1)

3) Simply pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit.

5. What is continuous prayer?

God's children can enjoy the mystery of prayer wherever and whenever. Within your life field, seek God's will and pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. That is continuous prayer.

1) 1Thessalonians 5:17 - "pray without ceasing"

2) Ephesians 6:18 - "praying at all times in the Spirit"

3) Romans 1:9 - "without ceasing, I mention you always in my prayers"

6. What is special prayer?

Whenever something special happens, do special prayer as you consult with your church leader. Uncovering God's will and praying is special prayer.

1) The Early Church prayed earnestly to God for Peter who was imprisoned while sharing the Gospel.

Acts 12:1-25 - "So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church." (v.5)

2) When the Antioch Church commissioned missionaries, they fasted and prayed in order to receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 13:1-4 - "While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said. 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them' Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off." (v.2-3)

3) When the ship that Paul was on faced a storm, he prayed earnestly and proved that God was alive.

Acts 27:20-25 - "For this very night there stood before me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, and he said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. And behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you'" (v.23-24)
