DECEMBER 14 Wed.

People Who Changed Their Motives for the Early Church

John 14:6 / Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Hymn #288 Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine (Unified Hymn 204)

1. Those Who Went Their Separate Ways
Those who were healed in the Bible and those who experienced and were moved by the miracle of the five loaves and two fish, in the end, went their separate ways. Jesus told His disciples that the miracle of the five loaves and two fish wasn't important. In addition, He said, "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing." Having compassion on the crowd, Jesus gave those thirsty souls what they urgently needed the most which was none other than "life."

2. Those Who Remained
Although a great problem arose, the remaining apostles and the 70 disciples who were "those who remained" and those who had been martyred saved the world.

3. Those Who Completely Changed Their Motives
Those who saw the events at Calvary and those who were commissioned from the Mt. of Olives completely changed their motives. Regarding what the Lord had promised to the people who gathered at Mark's upper room for the sake of the world, God gave them the answer of finishing everything. As a result, the people of the Early Church who changed their motives never wavered after that moment.

[Covenantal Prayer] Dear God, by enjoying Calvary; the Mt. of Olives; and Mark's upper room, completely change my motives. In Jesus Christ's name, I pray. Amen.
