The Physical Problem (Acts 8:4-8)

 

-In this summer vacation, we should establish our own spiritual system to enjoy the Word, prayer, and evangelism. These three interrelate with each other. Every single day, we must have a schedule for the Word, prayer, and evangelism. 
-First, we must build up the system of meditation upon the Word of God day and night. The time before you sleep and the time after you wake are the best important time to influence your mind, body, and spirit.


Psalms 1:1-2 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.

-Second, we need to pray daily with the Word of God. Regardless of our situations, we have to enjoy the time to kneel down before God. Set up and have your own scheduled prayer time in this summer!

Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.
-Third, we should have our own field and schedule for evangelism. Jesus Christ, apostle Paul, and disciples had an evangelism plan. In this summer, we set up our own evangelism field including people around us. Pray for them and these fields and visit there and meet them. If you receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you can find the field and door of evangelism.

Acts 17:2-3 Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3 explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.”

-Because of the sin by disbelief and disobedience towards God’s Word, people are separated from God and become the slave of Satan (Gen.3:1-6; Rom.3:23; John 8:44). They naturally worship idols (Rom.1:23) and suffer spiritually and mentally. Then, they undergo physical problems in their lives.

 

1.The physical problem is the fourth problem of human beings who are separated from God due to sin.

1)People suffer from many diseases

-Diseases started after the Fall of Adam and Eve. Many people are afflicted with diseases. Especially, physical problems in the Bible do not mean cold, allergy, simple headache, stomachache, and so on. The physical problem signifies incurable illness,

rare diseases, genetic diseases, and causeless physical sufferings.

Mark 5:25-26 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.

 

2)Many people suffer from economic problems and poverty

-Another aspect of physical problems means the economic problem. Some people experience swindle and scam. They lose their money and fall into debt. Sometimes, other spend their money continuously because of succeeding accidents. Others also suffer from severe poverty.

2 Timothy 3:2  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3)The physical state

-If people are under the physical problem, powerlessness and lethargy are representative symptoms of their physical state. Occasionally, they face failures in their lives. In order to avoid their current situation, they are addicted by drug, alcohol, gambling, game, sex, and so on. Physical problems impact the relationship of family. Some families crumble down because of conflicts which come from physical problems.

 

2.Wherever the Word of the Gospel is preached, the physical problems are resolved

1)After the gospel of Jesus Christ was proclaimed, many diseases were healed.

-Deacon Philip visited a city of Samaria and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ to them. After many people believe in Jesus Christ, their spiritual and physical problems are healed.They had great joy

Acts 8:4-8 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. 5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 And there was great joy in that city.

-The reason(cause) of some illnesses is connected to the fundamental problems. If he or she believes in Jesus Christ, they receive salvation as well as healing for their physical problems.

Matthew 9:2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.”

 

2)When the Word was preached, the evil spirit fled away and diseases were healed.

 -Jesus Christ fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah.

Matthew 8:16-17 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:“He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”

-In Jesus Christ, there is true healing and blessing for our body and spirit.

 

3)God’s Word is living and powerful to heal us.

-The best method to heal others is to imprint the Word of God in their mind, thoughts, and spirit.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

 

4)Satan blocks you from listening to the gospel.

-Remember, Satan always deceives people and takes away the Word of God from your heart. 
Mark 4:15 And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.

-The devil knows that if the seed of the Word is sown, it bears great fruit.

Mark 4:20  But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

 

5)The order of healing

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

-First, we should heal our soul through the Word of God. Therefore, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ is the first step of true healing. Then, we can heal our lives and body.

 

Conclusion


1)Continue to live your lives in Jesus Christ!

Colossians 2:6-7  As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it[ with thanksgiving.

 

-Jesus Christ is your Lord, Savior, and Master. Admit His Lordship over your life. Think, behave, judge, decide, say, listen, see, read in Jesus Christ! Our foundation is Jesus Christ. Take hold of the gospel of Jesus Christ every single day! Give true thanksgiving to God through the life of God’s child!
