The Promised Fall of Jericho

Joshua 6:1~7 Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the people of Israel. None went out, and none came in. And the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. Thus shall you do for six days. (1~3)

The Israelites who were going toward the land of Canaan came across another great hardship: the wall of Jericho. At that time, God gave Joshua the same Word that He had given to Moses. The commander of the Lord’s army told Joshua to take off his sandals, for the place where he was standing was holy(Joshua 5:13~15). He even told him the method to capture Jericho(Joshua 6:3~5). What is the covenant that you need to take hold of through this?

1. If You Lose Hold of Missions, Your Posterity Will Collapse
If you lose hold of missions, your posterity is bound to become slaves and live in the wilderness. They will be surrounded by war and eventually die within it. They will become captives, lose everything they have, and live as nomads.

2. God’s Promise Does Not Change
God promised the Exodus to Moses who then, delivered this fact to the elders, Israelites, and Pharaoh. Entering the land of Canaan was also God’s will. Therefore, no one was able to prevent this work. History and the Bible testify to this. Joshua who knew this fact believed that God’s Word would destroy Jericho, and he reported that the people of Jericho were melting in fear.

3. Fulfilling the Mission(World Evangelization) from God after Going to Canaan
There was a different reason why God led the Israelites to Canaan that was flowing with milk and honey. It wasn’t simply to let them live an abundant life or to repeat their past mistakes, but to fulfill world evangelization. For this work, He gave them the covenant of the Three Feasts and Ark of the Covenant. These covenants were completely fulfilled in the age of the Early Church through “Only Christ, God’s Kingdom, and Only Holy Spirit.” You, too, must remember that you are a joyful person because you have received a mission from God.

[Prayer of the Evangelist] Dear God, help me to hold onto the covenant. May the Jericho of my family, field, and church crumble down. Help me to be a person of prayer and the covenant.

That is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
